Mrs. Sallye M. Joyce Edwards, 84, passed on April 23, 2013 after a brief illness. She was born on May 23, 1928 in Winston-Salem to the late Bud and Ivy Green Coppedge. Mrs. Joyce Edwards was a graduate of W-S State University with a BS degree in nursing. She resided for many years in Chicago, Il before returning to Winston-Salem. She spent her working career as a registered nurse and retired from W-S Convalescent Center.

Mrs. Joyce Edwards was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church where she participated in the Bell Choir ministry. Her community activities included membership in Beauty of the West #36.

Those family members who survive include four daughters, Renee Amason, Jacqui Bowman (David) Rentsch, Stoughton, MA, Cynthia (Handy) Bethea, Upper Marlboro, MD and Teresa Joyce; two sisters, Hazel Edwards, Smithfield, VA and Betty Jean Armstrong, Baltimore, MD; five grandsons, Demonique Lewis, Rahsaan and Tarik Amason, Atticus Rentsch and Shawn Bethea; five great grandchildren and many other family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 29, 2013 at Shiloh Baptist Church. The family will greet friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery
