Mrs. Ethel Glenn Crockett
She was born in Forsyth County to Mrs. Mattie Hauser Glenn and the late Herman Glenn on April 28, 1945.
Ms. Crockett was employed by Forsyth Medical Center until her health began to decline. She was a former member of Friendship Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children Judy Glenn and James Glenn; 14 grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Mattie Hauser Glenn; sisters, Gaynell Glenn Cooper and Yvonne Wanda Rhodes; brothers, Gregory, Gordon, Kenneth and William Glenn; extended family members and many friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Clark S. Brown and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Sheldon McCarter as Eulogist.

Mrs. Dorothy S. Sykes
She received her early childhood education in the public schools of Roberson County before moving to Winston-Salem, North Carolina more than fifty-nine years ago.
Mrs. Sykes faithfully served on the Nurses’ Board of Phillips Chapel Mission-ary Baptist Church, where she was a member for more than forty years.
She was a dedicated employee at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center (formerly NC Baptist Hospital) for many years prior to her retirement.
“Dot” was passionate about fishing and was often found on the fishing banks at High Rock Lake and Lake Thom-a-Lex. She even made sure that her daughters were licensed to fish, thereby ensuring her transportation to the right spot for angling. She was also known to be fashionable in her dress and always appeared appropriately coordinated.
Mrs. Sykes answered the Lord’s call “from labor to reward,” at the Brian Center in Lexington, North Carolina, on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, following a period of illness.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Sykes; a son, George W. Sykes; daughters, Brenda Sykes and Mary McCorkle; daughter-in-law, Patricia Tart Sykes; son-in-law, David L. Speas, Sr.; and a grandson, Charles “Onnie” Sykes, Jr.
Those family members who survive and who will forever cherish loving memories of her include her daughters, Mazie L. Speas and Gradger “Gee” Sykes of the city and Jannette Sykes of Salisbury; a son, Charles Sykes, Sr. of Salisbury; a brother, Willie Smith of Dayton, OH; dear friends, Ann Gentry Spillman (over 59 years), Elizabeth Lentz, and Mattie and Pam of Salisbury; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family members and many friends.
A service in her memory was held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 in the chapel of Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. The family greeted friends thirty minutes prior to the service.

Ms. Gwendolyn L. Washington
Ms. Gwendolyn L. Washington passed away on June 17, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home following an extended period of illness.
She was born to the late Ophelia Gazell Washington in Bethania, NC on January 18, 1945. She attended the public schools of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County and graduated from Carver High School in 1963.
Ms. Washington was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church where she faithfully served with The Senior Choir, Spiritual Choir and Senior Missionary Ministries of the church until declining health limited her active participation.
She was a former employee of Thomasville Furniture Company and she was the lead custodian for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System at Gibson Elementary School prior to her retirement.
Those family members who survive include her daughter, Ronda A. Hill; her son, Delray R. Washington; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; a special uncle, Richard C. Washington; devoted friends, Elizabeth Speas, Maureen Thomas and Stephanie Sanders-Pratt; extended family members and many friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2015 at Red Bank Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend James R. Clyburn, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2015 in the chapel of Clark S. Brown and Sons Funeral Home.

Ms. Charline S. Galloway
Ms. Charline Susan Galloway, 71, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
She was born to the late Harvey Vessel Galloway and Janie Bell Mack Galloway in Forsyth County, NC on January 9, 1944.
Ms. Galloway attended the local public schools and was a graduate of John W. Paisley High School and she was of the Baptist Faith. She was a machine operator for RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company for thirty-one years prior to her retirement.
Survivors include her son, Tiko Vessel Galloway; her grandchildren, Cydney Crews, Tracy Pate and Antonio (Deannea) Pate; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Bobbie Jean Jones and Maxine Galloway; nieces, Tomiko Sprinkle, April Sprinkle and Yvonne Galloway; a godchild, Kamaria Miller; extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm, Monday, June 22, 2015 at Clark S. Brown and Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will greet friends thirty minutes prior to the service, at 1:30 pm in the chapel.

Ms. Doziner A. Myers
Ms. Doziner Anthonia Myers, affectionately called “Miss Doe” or “Ma Doe,” was born to the late Charlie Myers and Inez Gatewood Myers in Anson County, North Carolina on May 4, 1947. She was the last survivor of nine children born to that union.
She was thirteen years old when the family relocated to Winston-Salem and she attended the local schools, where she graduated from Atkins High School. Following graduation she attended Winston-Salem State University and completed the requirements to become certified as a Nurse Assistant..
Ms. Myers was employed as a Certified Nurse Assistant at Winston-Salem Convalescent Center and retired from the company after more than forty years of dedicated service.
She was of the Baptist Faith and was a former member of First Calvary Bap-tist Church.
Ms. Myers loved to cook and she seemed to have a “green thumb” because she had a gift for reviving flowers. She often said that ‘plants were her chil-dren that didn’t talk back.’
“Miss Doe” peacefully passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, following a period of illness. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Myers.
Those family members who survive and who will forever cherish loving memories of her include her daughter, LaWander (Ben) Owens; her son, Anthony Myers; grandchildren, Senteria and Teneria Myers, Ishmon Myers, whom she reared as a son, RaDonte’ (Vee) Williams, Travis McGill and An-thony Myers, Jr.; great grandchildren, Jatameyah and Semaj Myers, Jaymz Parker, Antuan Perry and Jordan Ballentine; sisters-in-law, Nellie Myers and Mona Burgess; dear friends, Flora Greenburg, Priscilla Porter and Richard White; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends.
A service in her memory was held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, June 13, 2015 in the chapel of Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. Family visitation 30 minutes prior to the service.

Mrs. Shirley A. Nichols

Mrs. Shirley Ann Williams Nichols passed away at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center on Saturday, June 6, 2015, following an extended period of illness.
She was born to the late Henry Isaac Williams and Daisy Ree Howell Williams in Winston-Salem on December 7, 1959.
Mrs. Nichols attended the local public schools and graduated from RJ Reynolds High School in 1978. She then attended Forsyth Technical Community College where she earned an associate degree in 1982.
She was a member of New Birth Christian Church where she served as chairperson of the Deaconess Board and sang with the Gospel Choir.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Charles Nichols, Jr.
Survivors include her daughters, Larisha Williams and Jessica Nichols; grandchildren, ZaMyah, La’Nyah, Zi’Quan, Da’Shanea, Christopher, Jamie and Aleena; sisters, Joyce Marie Williams and Linda (Terrance) Nance; brothers, David (Gloria) Williams, Kenneth (Hattie) Owens and Henry (Malinda) Williams; goddaughter, Cynthia Nichols; The Nichols and Roberts Families; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12 pm, Saturday, June 13, 2015 at New Birth Christian Church (Northwest Boulevard). The family will greet friends at 11:30 am at the church. Interment will be in Salisbury National Cemetery.
