Mr. Robert Q. Harrington

Mr. Robert Quincy Harrington was born on June 25, 1945 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Helen Harrington Soney. Quincy as he was affectionately known was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school system, attending both Atkins and Paisley High Schools. He completed HVAC training at Forsyth Technical Community College. Quincy served in the US navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1971. Professionally, he worked at Hanes Dye and Finishing Company as a boiler technician. He held several positions in other companies and was often called upon to repair air conditioners and washer and dryers. Quincy was a gentle and caring man who love children and was a friend to many. He loved to fish and continued to believe he would one day be able to return to the activities he enjoyed before his health declined. Quincy passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Springwood Care Center after a period of illness. He is survived by a daughter, Anjonette Harrington Wade; grandson, Cameron Wade; sister, Linda Harrington Jones; brothers: Ralph G. (Yolanda) Soney and Larry Dunovant; nephews: Dedrick Jones and Garrit Harrington Soney; several cousins and many friends.
Funeral services were held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 in the chapel of Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. The family greeted friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment in Salisbury National Cemetery.

Mr. Jerry Perry



Mr. Jerry Perry passed away at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home on Monday, November 24, 2014. He was born on June 15, 1918 to the late Frank and Naomi Grant Perry in Hurtsboro, Alabama. Mr. Perry retired from US Steel in Birmingham, AL after 38 years of service and   gave honorable service for his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was a life-long member of 25
th Avenue Baptist Church in Birmingham. Survivors include his twin daughters, Pauline Perry (Wesley) Clowers and Paulette Perry (Aldeen) Smith; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; his brother, Frank Perry, Jr.; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, December 1, 2014 at Mount Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Serenus T. Churn, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service at the church, at 11:30 a.m.

Mrs. Gladys G. Lee

Mrs. Gladys Grier Lee passed away Friday November 7, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born on July 13, 1929 in Greenville, SC to the late Ilar Bruton Grier and John Grier. Mrs. Lee was educated in the local public schools and graduated from Atkins High School. She was a faithful and lifelong member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where she sang on the Senior Choir. After many years, Mrs. Lee retired from the WS/FC School System where she served as lead custodian at Kennedy Middle School and The Downtown School. Her community involvements included membership with Camel City Elks Lodge #220 and North Side Bowling League. Survivors include a special loving and devoted sister-daughter, Dorothy G. Chaplin, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Family visitation will be at 12:30 PM on Thursday, November 13, 2014 in the chapel of Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM with interment in Evergreen Cemetery. At other times the family may be contacted at the residence of Mrs. Dorothy Chaplin, 1624 Rockford Street.

Mrs. Avalena L. Artis

Avalena Lunn Artis departed this life on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 following a period of illness. She was born in Florence, SC to the late Early Lunn and Earlene Davis Lunn on March 28, 1955.
Mrs. Artis graduated from North Forsyth High School in 1973 and received an associate degree in Early Childhood Education from Forsyth Technical Community College. She was employed with ABCD Child Development (1977-1998) and WFU Baptist Childcare Center (1991-2007). 
Mrs. Artis was a faithful member of Redbank Baptist Church where she served as a deaconess, Sunday school teacher and choir member.
She leaves behind to cherish fond memories Willie Frank Artis, her husband of 20 years, and her son, Daniel Artis, both of the home; her mother, Earlene D. Lunn; three sisters; a brother; mother-in-law, Barbara Artis (Edward) Woodard; father-in-law, Willie Frank (Mattie) Artis, Sr.;  2 sisters-in-law;  3 brothers-in-law; a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including two devoted friends, Tammy Harris and Sachyal Davis. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel L. Scott and Cheryl A. Bethea.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Red Bank Baptist Church with interment immediately following in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends thirty minutes prior to the services at 2:00 p.m. at the church.

Ms. Lillie M. Lambeth

Lillie Mae Phillips Lambeth was born in Yadkin County on September 29, 1930, the second of fourteen children to Walter and Lady Byrd Phillips. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: John Thomas, Robert Louis, Kyrm, and Walter Junior Phillips; and by her sister Cora Phillips Furches. She was married to Roy E. Lambeth, who also preceded her in death.
She leaves to lovingly cherish her memory her beloved dog, Moo Moo (who was like her own child), her brothers: Clarence(Alice) Phillips; Paul (Shirley) Phillips; James (Mandy) Phillips; Larry (Tamara) Phillips; and William Phillips; sisters: Eliza (Aldine) Myers; Alice Porter; and Gail Phillips; sisters-in-law: Cody Phillips; Shirley Phillips; Martha Phillips; and Clair Cremedy; brothers-in law Ernest Transou; Fred Transou; and Allen Transou; 35 nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Glenn’s Chapel AME Zion Church, 2200 Bloomtown Rd., East Bend, NC. Family visitation will be from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at the church.
