Mrs. Carolyn A. Andrews

Mrs. Carolyn Ann Andrews was born December 8, 1940 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Earnest C. and Bessie Lewis Thompson. She received her education from Winston-Salem School System graduating from Anderson High School. Carolyn and Willie have been together over 47 years.

Carolyn touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity and maintained her trademark smile all the way to the end. She devoted much of her time as a caregiver to her family. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family and friends. She will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her three sisters Barbara Thompson Williams, Sharon Elizabeth Thompson and Kaye Louise Thompson and two brothers Earnest Donald Thompson and Ashley Mills (Teddy) Thompson.

Most precious memories will be cherished by her loving husband Willie Andrews of the home; five children: Reginald Antonio Thompson, Deborah Andrews (Leo) Farrington, Willette Andrews, Willie Andrews III, and Terry D. (Stacy) Andrews; five grandchildren: Leo Andrews, Krystal Farrington, Brannon Farrington, Alasha Ingram and Tasiana Andrews; four great grandchildren: Jeleel Robinson, Ka’Niyah Frazier, Kyrah Frazier and Elijah McCoy; four sisters: Earnestine Thompson of Winston-Salem, Constance Thompson (Horace) Scott of Oklahoma City, OK, Betsy Thompson (Orestes) Williams of Plainfield, NJ and Debra (Robert) Bryant, Rocky Mount, NC; seven In-laws: Harry (Linda) Andrews, Christine (John) McDonald, Ella Mae Laws, Lavern (Agnes) Andrews, Thomesania Kennedy, Rosemary Andrews and Pauline Henry; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Union Baptist Church. The family will visit with friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery

Mr. Ernest F. Douglas

Mr. Ernest Franklin Douglas passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2012 after a period of illness. He was born on December 20, 1950 to Esther Douglas Carolina in High Point, NC.

Mr. Douglas was a 1969 graduate of Thomasville Sr. High School. He continued his education in the Culinary Arts in New York where he was an entrepreneur. Before his health declined, he managed the Waffle House on Peters Creek Parkway. Mr. Douglas loved to sing and travel.

He is survived by his mother Esther R. Carolina of Thomasville; two daughters: Tonya (Chris) Allen of Winston-Salem and Amera Douglas of Orlando, Fla; three sons: Amir Douglas of Miami, Fla; Akbar and Omar Douglas, both of New York, NY; thirteen grandchildren; two sisters: Debbie Carolina (Gerry) Walters of Winston-Salem and Yvette H. Carolina of Thomasville; three nieces: Kahlia Carolina of Thomasville, Shenee and Jarmella Carolina of High Point; one nephew, Curtis Carolina of Thomasville; a host of other relatives, many cousins and many friends.

Mrs. Ida H. Lash

Ida Hazlip Lash ended her earthly walk with us to fly among God’s chosen angels on Thursday, May 17, 2012. Born on October 16, 1914 to the late George and Lillie Hazlip in Forsyth County, North Carolina, she was a devoted mother and domestic worker.

A sweet Christian lady who loved her family, she was a loyal and faithful member of Bethlehem AME Zion Church in Pfafftown. Ida was always known as a wonderful cook who loved it best when people were enjoying her food.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Hazlip and Lillie Warren; husband, James E. Lash; her daughter, Lillie Burgin; three sisters, Treva Stimpson, Betty Ruth Bullock and Mary Francis Coggins; and one brother, Thomas Warren.

She is survived by two sons, James E. Lash (Loretta) and George Wayne Lash; one daughter, Linda Arlene Boone; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Bethlehem AME Zion Church. The family will greet friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be in Bethlehem AME Zion Cemetery.

Mr. Dedric R. Jenerett

Mr. Dedric R. Jenerett “Ricky”, 53, was born on November 28, 1958 in Winston-Salem to the late Eli M. Jenerett and Thelma Caesar Jenerett. He departed this life on Sunday, May 13, 2012. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Dawkins and brother, Ronald Jenerett.

He leaves to cherish memory, two sons: Tijuan March and Corey Cameron; eight grandchildren; one sister, Lynda Jenerett; three brothers: Michael, Eli, and Travis Jenerett; thirty-eight nieces and nephews; a devoted friend and boss, Howard Williamson and a host of other family and friends.

Dedric attended the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County schools.

Ricky was a laborer by trade. He had phrase everyone will remember: “Put your hands on something” that means work and work he did for a lot of people that we are sure will miss him as well.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 17, 2012.

Mr. Walter E. Lowery

Mr. Audrey L. Roseboro

Mr. Audrey Lee (aka Archie, Bro) Roseboro,72, expired on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Kindred Hospital, Greensboro, NC. He was born on June 14, 1939 to the late Earl and Ruth Roseboro. Also preceding him in death was his sister, Alice Mae Roseboro.

Audrey attended the schools of Winston-Salem Forsyth County- Kimberley Park Elementary and Atkins High School. He served our country in the United States Army for 21 years and retired as staff Sergeant.

A devoted and faithful lifetime member of the Friendship Baptist Church, serving as van driver, member of the Cathedral Choir, Sunday School, Men's Council, Forsyth County Sunday School, Forsyth County Baptist Training Union and any other capacities when needed.

For many years, Archie volunteered for Meals on Wheels. He also spent many hours assisting and aiding many homeless men and women with their spiritual and physical challenges. For many years he drove for the Blue Bird Cab Company. He will be greatly missed by his friends at McDonald's (Martin Luther King Blvd) where they selected him president. And he was also a member of Winston-Salem State University National Alumni Association.

Archie is survived by daughters: Camelia Harrison of Delaware, Audrea and Natonya Myers of the city; sons: Steven and Jeffrey Roseboro of Ozark, Alabama and Archie Myers of the city; his twin sister whom he truly adored, Azalee (James) Vinson; sisters: Mildred Griffin, Bertha Parks, and Robbie Allen all of the city; brothers: John of Reidsville, NC; Eugene (Viola) of Tobaccoville, Rev. Ardeal (Diane), Curtis “Breadman", and Samuel (Victoria) Roseboro all of the city; ten grandchildren, great-grand children, many nieces, nephews, cousins and the Friendship Baptist Church family.

The family will receive friends Thursday May 17, at 6:30 pm -8:00 at Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. Celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday May 18, 2012 with visitation at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at the Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.

The family would like to express sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff and doctors of Baptist Hospital lCU 4th and 6th floors and the staff and doctors of Kindred Hospital, Greensboro, NC.
      

Mr. Dearieo McFadden

Mr. Dearieo McFadden, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 5, 2012.  He was born in Hemingway, SC to the late George W. and Lovenia McFadden.  Mr. McFadden attended High School in Wilmington, NC and served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, when he was honorably discharged.  He was employed at Lucent (formerly Western Electric) for thirty-three and a half years. He was a devoted member of Lloyd Presbyterian Church.
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Samuel (Pearlean), George, John Wesley, Dock, and Norman McFadden; sister, Betty Jean McFadden, stepsons: Richard and Odyses White and step-grandson, Kenneth William Wright Jr. 
 
Mr. McFadden is survived by his loving wife, Estella McFadden of the home; stepdaughters: Gloria Richardson and Vernessa (Kenneth)Wright of Winston-Salem; stepsons: Glen White of Winston-Salem, Tony White of Sacramento, Ca, Ronzoni (Carolyn) White of Knob Knobster, MO; sisters: Mary Coulter of Honolulu, Hawaii and Barbara McGloucking (NJ); brothers: Claire (Inez) McFadden of Hemingway, SC and Robert McFadden of Winston-Salem; a devoted sister-in-law, Sally Mae McFadden (Winston-Salem), a devoted nephew, George McFadden(Winston Salem); two adopted daughters: Inez Conner and Brenda Burke of Winston-Salem; two devoted friends: John C. Blue and Freddie Young (Winston-Salem); a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
 
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Goler Memorial AME Zion Church. The family will greet friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Park.
