Mr. Walter Mack Davis
Mr. Walter Mack Davis , passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home following a period of illness.
He was born to the late Willie Mack Davis and Rachel Jordan Davis in Florence, SC on February 29, 1928. His employment history includes positions with Piedmont Airlines (Beechcraft), B. S. Womble and his retirement as a machine operator for over thirty years at Stewart Warner Corporation Bassick Sack.
Mr. Davis was a member of Christ Rescue Temple Apostolic Church for more than 60 years and he was a former volunteer for the Winston-Salem Rescue Squad.
Survivors include Annie Jackson Davis, his wife of 70 years; sons, Roosevelt Jackson and Dedric Keaton; daughter, Louise Davis Heilig; 15 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren;18 great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Leroy Jackson of Baltimore, MD; sister-in-law, Grace Davis; special niece, Sarah McCall of Florence; extended family including Atty. B. S. Womble and Family, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Jessup, Ms. Barbara Rohem and Bishop Donald and Vickie Keaton and Family; several other relatives and many friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12 pm, Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Christ Rescue Temple Apostolic Church. The family will greet friends thirty minutes prior to the service, at 11:30 am, at the church

Mr. General Jackson, Sr.
Mr. Jackson attended the local schools in Darlington, South Carolina where he graduated from Rosenwald High School. He attended New Hopewell Baptist Church in Hartsville, S.C. at an early age.
He was a resident of Winston Salem, N.C. for most of his life. He worked at Hanes Knitting Mill and retired from Hanes Dye and Finishing after 20 years of service. He owned and operated Jack’s Place on Cherry Street Extension for many years after retiring from Hanes. At Jack’s Place he was a listening ear for the community and a sincere friend and advisor. His love for people emanated from Jack’s Place.
In addition to his parents Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his son, General Jackson II, three sisters, Laura Bratcher, Catherine Poole, and Ida Mae Zimmerman, and three brothers, Willis Jackson, Jeremiah Jackson, and James Jackson.
His survivors include his devoted wife of 66 years, Herlenia S. Jackson; two sons, Fleming J. El-Amin (Cassaundra) of Winston Salem, N.C., and Joseph B. Jackson (Valerie) of Durham, N.C.; daughter-in-law, Lillian Griffith(Hiawatha) of Winston-Salem, N.C.; four sisters- in- law, Wilhemenia Byers of Winston-Salem, N.C., Dorothy Joyner of Society Hill, S.C., Queen Ester Thomas of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Bessie Mae Kennedy of Newark, N.J.; 11 grandchildren, General Jackson III, Monica Banner (Toma), Mia S. Jackson, and Matthew El-Amin of Winston-Salem, N.C., Jermaul Terry of Detroit, M.I., Fleming El-Amin II and Jameelah Hayes (Derrick) of Laurel, M.D., Joi Stepney and David Jackson of Durham, N.C., and Abraham El-Amin and Salimah El-Amin of Raleigh, N.C.; 19 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service for Mr. Jackson will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, July 27, 2015 at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Mr. Charles E. Harris, Jr.
10/21/1954 – 7/21/2015
Mr. Charles Ervin Harris, Jr. passed away unexpectedly at Wake Forest Baptist Health on Tuesday, July 21, 2015.
He was born to the late Charles Harris, Sr. and Betty Ziglar Harris in Forsyth County, NC on October 21, 1954.
Mr. Harris graduated from R. J. Reynolds High School and following graduation he attended NC A & T State University. He was a self employed electrician and carpenter.
He received his early Christian education at St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Harris is preceded in death by his brother, Ferlanderus Alexander Harris.
Survivors include his sister, Doris Charlene Harris (Aaron) Oliver; brother, Maurice Harris, Sr.; an aunt, Margie Ruth Reaves; nephews, Chante (Verena) Taylor, Sr., Maurice Harris, Jr., Chante Taylor, Jr., and Shamar Harris; nieces, Monica Taylor, Ferlonda Christine Taylor and Chloe Harris.

Miss Ceiera L. Y. Phillips
Miss Ceiera Latrice Yvonne Phillips, 21, passed away unexpectedly at Forsyth Medical Center on Wednesday, July 8, 2015.
She was born to Cleondra Sylvia Phillips and Antoine Mobley in Winston-Salem, NC on August 30, 1993.
Ceiera was a 2011 graduate of Atkins High School where she was very outgoing and a star athlete in track and field. At the time of her passing, she was studying criminal justice at Tiffin University and working as a cashier at the Akron Drive location of Cook-Out Restaurant.
She was baptized at Eastside Church of Christ at a very young age and most recently had been attending services at The Love Church.
Ceiera is preceded in death by her grandmother, Florene Y. Phllips; great grandfather, Samuel Phillips; and an aunt, Marcia Campbell.
Surviving family members who will forever cherish loving memories include her parents, Cleondra Phillips and Antoine Mobley; her sister, A’Dasia Brunson; her great grandmother, Sylvia Phillips; several aunts, uncles, extended family members and many friends.
A funeral service will be held at 3 pm on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at The Love Church. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service, at 2 pm, at the church. There will be no public viewing prior to the visitation.
Mr. John H. Griggs, Jr.
Mr. John Henry Griggs, Jr. unexpectedly passed away at his home on Monday, July 6, 2015.
He was born to the late John Henry Griggs, Sr. and Minister Dorothy B. Griggs in Winston-Salem, NC on September 30, 1942.
Mr. Griggs was a product of the local school system, an avid reader of the Bible and he faithfully served his church. He was a material handler at Shepherd Vaneer Company prior to his declining health.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Patty S. Griggs.
Those family members who will cherish loving memories of him include a devoted nephew, Ardeal L. Roseboro, Jr.; his brother, Reverend Calvester (Geraldine) Griggs; his sister, Minister Diane (Ardeal) Roseboro; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Prince of Peace Baptist Church with Reverend Ardeal Roseboro as Eulogist. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will greet friends thirty minutes prior to the service at the church.

Ms. Rebecca G. Black
Ms. Rebecca Georgianna Black departed this life at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center on July 6, 2015 following a brief period of illness.
She was born to the late Wallace Black and Marie LeGrand Black in Forsyth County, North Carolina on February 10, 1950.
Ms. Black was a product of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System and a graduate of A. H. Anderson Senior High School. She was a professional Cosmetologist who served many patrons in the Happy Hill Gardens Community.
She was a member of United Memorial Church where she faithfully served as a member of the choir.
Ms. Black is survived by her loving and devoted children, Roderick (Soraya) Stewart of Atlanta, GA and Katie Black of the city; her grandson, Roderick Stewart, Jr. of Charlotte; four sisters, Marie Wilson, Audrey Thompson, Maybell (Benny) Warren and Laverne (Leon) Taylor; her brother, Wallace (Beverly) Black, Jr.; special friends, Rosalyn Davis, Barbara Page and Gloria Rose; several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and many friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Clark S. Brown and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John P. Williams, Jr. as Eulogist. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will greet friends thirty minutes prior to the service at 12:30 pm at the chapel.
