Ms. Doziner A. Myers


Ms. Doziner Anthonia Myers, affectionately called “Miss Doe” or “Ma Doe,” was born to the late Charlie Myers and Inez Gatewood Myers in Anson County, North Carolina on May 4, 1947. She was the last survivor of nine children born to that union.
She was thirteen years old when the family relocated to Winston-Salem and she attended the local schools, where she graduated from Atkins High School. Following graduation she attended Winston-Salem State University and completed the requirements to become certified as a Nurse Assistant..
Ms. Myers was employed as a Certified Nurse Assistant at Winston-Salem Convalescent Center and retired from the company after more than forty years of dedicated service.
She was of the Baptist Faith and was a former member of First Calvary Bap-tist Church.
Ms. Myers loved to cook and she seemed to have a “
green thumb” because she had a gift for reviving flowers. She often said that ‘plants were her chil-dren that didn’t talk back.’
“Miss Doe” peacefully passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, following a period of illness. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Myers.
Those family members who survive and who will forever cherish loving memories of her include her daughter, LaWander (Ben) Owens; her son, Anthony Myers; grandchildren, Senteria and Teneria Myers, Ishmon Myers, whom she reared as a son, RaDonte’ (Vee) Williams, Travis McGill and An-thony Myers, Jr.; great grandchildren, Jatameyah and Semaj Myers, Jaymz Parker, Antuan Perry and Jordan Ballentine; sisters-in-law, Nellie Myers and Mona Burgess; dear friends, Flora Greenburg, Priscilla Porter and Richard White; several nieces, nephews, extended
family members and many friends.

A service in her memory was held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, June 13, 2015 in the chapel of Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. Family visitation 30 minutes prior to the service.
