Ms. Helen B. Reynolds
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:6-7. Ms. Helen Bernice Reynolds,101, affectionately known as “Sister”, went to her heavenly home Wednesday, July 30, 2014. She was born on July 20, 1913 in Forsyth County to the late Ms. Viola Wagner and Mr. Aaron Saunders Reynolds.
Ms. Reynolds was a member of First Baptist Church on Highland Avenue where she served as a dedicated gold member until her health declined. She was a graduate of the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools. Once she completed school she moved to Washington, DC and worked as a private duty nurse for 30 years. Ms. Reynolds was preceded in death by her father Mr. Aaron Saunders Reynolds; her mother, Ms. Viola Wagner; two sisters: Elinor R. Morris (Carl) and Lucille Davis; and four brothers: Harold Reynolds (her twin), Raymond Reynolds, Clifton Reynolds (Mary Alice) and Clarence A. Reynolds, Sr. (Vaughnita).
She leaves to cherish her memories to three nieces: Linda Reynolds of New York, NY; Lorraine Reynolds of Washington, DC; and Carol Lynn Reynolds of the city; three nephews: Raymond Reynolds (Agnes) of Falls Church, VA; Michael W. Reynolds (Kiyra) of Thorton, CO; Clarence A. Reynolds, Jr. (Kim) of Winston-Salem; one great nephew: Aaron K. Reynolds; two great nieces: Megan B. Reynolds and Sherri Y. Murrell; a great-great nephew: Mason Jace Parks; a cherished great-great niece, Madison A. Murrell; many other extended family members and special friends.
Family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Forsyth Hospital on 9 General unit and to Hospice and Palliative Care Center for the comforting care she received during her last days. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church on Highland Avenue on Monday, August 4 at 11 am with Reverend Glenn Pettiford officiating. Visitation will take place from 1030 am to 11 am. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Contact and condolences can be made at the home of Sherri Y. Murrell.
