Mr. John T. Williams, Jr.

Mr. John T. Williams, Sr. “JT”, 76, passed on November 3, 2009 at his residence. He was born May 21, 1933 in Winston-Salem to the late Walter Williams and Carrie Bell Jackson Williams. In addition to his parents, “JT” was predeceased by his brothers, Abraham “Flute” and Walter, Jr. “Hank” and an infant son, Robert Alexander Williams.
“JT” was educated in the local school system and in the community he was a member of the Phalanx Fraternity, Cyclops, Inc. and The Les Arbres Club. He loved bowling, playing golf and “Bid Whist”.
Mr. Williams retired from McLean Trucking Company. He spent a few years employed by Arbor Acres Retirement Community where he enjoyed transporting the residents to various restaurants and plays, their doctor appointments, airport and even funerals. He was a caregiver to his uncle, Johnnie Jackson and God mother, Evelyn Brevard.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Verna; nine children: Linda (James) Young, John (Sandra) Williams, Jr., Cynthia Ferrell, Vanessa Gillespie, Shawn Williams, Keith Williams, Brian Williams, Ricky Coleman and Anthony Coleman; fifteen grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; one uncle, Booker T. Williams; Godmother, Evelyn Brevard; a devoted nephew, Michael (Eleanor) Williams; a host of other nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
