Mrs. Willa Y. Truesdale

Mrs. Willa Yores Truesdale, 99, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2009 after a brief illness. She was born June 5, 1910 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

She attended Winston-Salem Teacher’s College, receiving a teaching degree. She completed her Masters at North Carolina A&T University. She taught 2
nd grade in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System for 42 years.

Mrs. Truesdale was a member of First Baptist Church for 93 years, heavily involved in missionary work. She was an active member in her community and flower clubs. She had a passion for community service, but above all, was a pillar of strength for her family and friends.

Surviving Mrs. Truesdale are her devoted daughter, Jo Ann T. Davis of the home, who tirelessly cared for her in her later years; her granddaughter, Karima (Charles) Davis Scales and her 3 greatgrandchildren, Scott Pass, II, Aariel and Richard Scales. She also left behind loving relatives and friends, too numerous to name. Her life was lived with a commitment to family, education and community.
