Edena M. Evans Dec. 28, 1928 ~ May 3, 2011 Mrs. Edena M. Evans of Springwood Care Home transitioned from labor to reward on Tuesday, May 3, 2011. Edena was born in Winston-Salem, NC on December 28, 1928 to the late George and Rosetta Maryland. Edena was a faithful member and diligent worker at Hanes Memorial CME Church for many years. Edena was preceded in death by her husband, George Evans, Jr.; two sisters, Hazel Lillian Maryland Simpson and Zula Maryland; one brother, James Maryland. Left to cherish her memories include sons: George B. (Annettia) Evans, III of Winston-Salem and James Maryland Evans of Dobson, NC; four daughters: Rose Clark of Wheaton, IL, Georgia (James) Connor, Adrienna Hairston and Keisha Evans, all of the city; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, May 7, at Hanes Memorial CME Church, 819 N. Highland Avenue. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Special thanks to Springwood Care Home for their service and dedication to our mother. The family may be contacted at the residence of George Evans, III.
