Mrs. Elizabeth P. Nesbitt
Mrs. Elizabeth P. Nesbitt, 96, of 461 W. 26th Street, was born on July 29, 1916 to James and Julia Perkins in Walnut Cove, NC. On April 5, 2013, she quietly and peacefully made her transition from Forest Heights Senior Living to eternal rest.
She moved with her parents to Winston-Salem at an early age and attended Atkins High School. She joined Shiloh Baptist Church and was a faithful member as long as her health permitted. Elizabeth was an employee of R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and retired after working forty-five years.
Elizabeth loved being with her family, friends, and neighbors. Mrs. Nesbitt participated in various community, civic and church organizations. She enjoyed walking, exercising, bowling, traveling, and watching the Atlanta Braves baseball games. Those she knew or met always mentioned her beautiful smile.
Mrs. Nesbitt was predeceased by her parents, her first husband and the father of her children, Paul l. Miller; her second husband, Horace Nesbitt, a son, Paul L. Miller, Jr., a sister, Josephine Henry, her only brother, James Perkins, Jr., a sister-in-law, Elizabeth M. West and a step-daughter, Hazel Chin.
She is survived by three devoted daughters, Dorothy M. Tanner {Fred), Yolander M. Bailey, and Margaret M. Poston {Clark), two devoted sons, William H. Miller and Harold N. Miller, a sister, Alma P. Epps, a sister-in-law, Magnolia Perkins, 17 grand children, 25 great-grand children, 9 great-great grand children, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives; a dear friend, Mrs. Catherine Cason, a God-daughter, Martha Riley and a special friend and caregiver, Patricia Mobley.
The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice, the staff at Forest Heights Senior Living, all the wonderful caregivers that she had, and for all other acts of kindness shown by so many.
Funeral Services will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 9 at 1:00. The Family Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
