Mr. Frank Williams
August 12, 2013
Mr. Frank Williams, Jr. May 28, 1939 – August 12, 2013
Frank Williams, Jr. was born to the late Frank Williams, Sr. and Hattie Mae Westfield Williams on May 28, 1939, in Laurens, South Carolina.
At a very young age, he came to live with his Aunt Clara in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He completed his education and at eighteen years of age took a job with RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company.
He later married the former Mary Correll. And they were the proud parents of two sons. The young couple welcomed the birth of Frank, III in 1960 and their joy was complete when the baby boy, Vernon, arrived in 1967.
Frank remained gainfully employed as an operator with RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company until he retired after more than twenty-five years of dedicated service.
In the community, he served on the Winston-Salem, North Carolina Neighborhood Council and was heavily involved with the Southside City Community Development Group.
Frank was a big teaser and was particularly fond of annoying his sisters. Family members came to know that his kidding was another way to show his affection for them. He especially enjoyed the time spent with Vonisha and Vonda, granddaughters who were the joy of his life.
A man of his word, Frank was a giver and he believed in owing no one. He was hardly seen when he was not wearing a hat. And he never complained, even during his illness, so he peacefully passed away at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on August 12, 2013.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Bobbie Johnson and two brothers, Bennie Gary and Tommy Lee Williams.
Those family members who will miss him and forever cherish his memory include his sons, Frank Williams, III and Vernon Williams; eight grandchildren, Vernon, Jr., Sheldon, Vonda, Vonisha, Natisha, Reginald, Frank Marcus and Kimberly; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty (John) Kelley, Catherine (Jay) Robinson and Marries Suber; and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 17, 2013 in the chapel of Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. The family will greet friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
