Mrs. Virginia P. Bailey
Virginia, “Gin”, “Mom”, “Grandma Ginny” born to the late R.C. Pledger, Sr. and Nola Pace Pledger in Forsyth County, NC, never met a stranger. She was the 4th born of 9 children. Virginia was predeceased by both parents; a brother, R.C. Pledger, Jr.; and sisters: Gretchen Horne, Lucille Armstrong, Myrtle Armstrong, Treva Cundiff and Dollie Gladden; as well as two children: Bobbie Bailey-Russell of Roosevelt, NY and William H. (Bill) Bailey of this city.
Virginia was a graduate of Carver High School and attended Winston-Salem Teachers College (now WSSU). She was a retiree of Thomasville Furniture Industries in Thomasville, NC.
She is survived by one daughter, C. Jean Bailey-Vincent (Curtis); two sisters: Roxie Pledger-Jones and Callie Pledger-Howell (Clyde, Sr.); and ex-husband, William Walter Bailey, all of Winston-Salem. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Rodney Speas, Stephanie Speas, Keith Bailey and Tia C. Vincent, all of the Atlanta, GA area; Tia D. Bailey and Cheryl Lynn Maske (Cliff) of Charlotte, NC; Zachary Speas (Lisa) of High Point; Cherie Crisp of Kernersville; Monique Speas of Greensboro; Todd Speas of Winston-Salem; and Kyle Martin of New York; great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. She leaves loving memories to special friends Maggielena Keit, Carrie Shore, Robert Staten, Mrs. Cheeseborough and all the residents of Somerset Court, the workers there and all her church family who offered love and support throughout the years.
Thanks to all doctors, nurses and others at Select Care Services who took such excellent care of her in her final days at Forsyth Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 12, 2011 at Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church. The family visited with friends on Sunday, September 11, 2011 from 7-8 PM. Interment in Parklawn Memorial Park.
