Ms. Meredith L. McGee
Meredith Louisa McGee, also known as "Mere," was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on June 18, 1972, to the late Grady McGee and Wanda McGee Harrington. At an early age, she and her family moved to Winston-Salem, North Carolina where she remained a lifelong resident.
She was the great niece of the late Bishop Eli Neal, founder of Saint Peter's Apostolic Church and was predeceased by her uncles, Charles Neal, Lloyd Gambrell and Sam Montgomery.
Educated in the public school system, Meredith received training in cosmetology, which became her passion. She later attended Forsyth Technical College where she received formal instruction as a Certified Nurse Assistant. Meredith spent the past several years of her life employed as a private duty nurse.
She loved her children and grandson, dearly. She will be fondly remembered for her fashionable hairstyling, manicures and love of music. On Monday, September 9, 2013, Meredith passed away unexpectedly.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children Paulanizia D. Davis, Kwame L. Crockett, Sr., and Chrishawn R. K. Crockett; a grandson, Kwame L. Crockett, Jr.; a brother, Timothy Neal (Ryoko); and two aunts, Queen Crosby and Pearl McClary; she is additionally survived by an extended family of first cousins and friends who were touched by her life.
A memorial service was held 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 19, 2013 in the chapel of Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home.
