Mrs. Carolyn H. Thompson passed away from Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem on January 5, 2015, following a brief period of illness.
She was born to the late James Adam Lee Hairston and Josephine Henderson Hairston in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on February 24, 1944 .
She was educated in the public schools of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County and graduated from Atkins High School. She began her early Christian education as a member of Kimberly Park Holiness Church. Mrs. Thompson worked for the Aramark Company and following many years of dedicated service she retired from the company.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Leon Hairston and Willie Irvin Hairston. Survivors include her devoted husband, Arnold Thompson; her sons, Kenneth Hairston and Reginald Hairston; three step-children, Monica Denise Thompson, David Lee Thompson and Kenneth Arnold Thompson; mother-in-law, Mrs. Elizabeth T. Thomas; two sisters, Ernestine H. Richardson and Brenda H. (Bishop Lawrence) Tate; two grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; brother-in-law; four sisters-in-law; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, January 10, 2015 in the Clark S. Brown and Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will greet friends in the chapel at 11:30 a.m.
