Mr. Samuel Jenkins
July 09, 2013
Samuel M. Jenkins, Jr. entered into a peaceful rest on July 9, 2013. Born into the family of the late Samuel and Azalee Jenkins on January 2, 1946, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, he was one of seven children.
His outgoing personality endeared him to everyone he met. To Sam, there were no strangers; he encircled each person in an embrace of warmth and welcome. His kind, joyful spirit touched the lives of many.
Sam was devoted to his family and friends, whom he loved and cherished. Especially dear to him were the love and friendship of his closest friends in the Anderson High School Alumni Association, N.C. A&T Alumni Association and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
In sum, Samuel was blessed with many gifts, and he was a blessing to others. Surely, his works will praise him in the gates of heaven.
Lovingly celebrating his life are his sisters, Sandra Armstrong (William) – a devoted twin sister who was also his primary caregiver, Sylvia Jenkins, Susan Gillis, and Sharon Jenkins; two step-daughters, Donna Johnson (Elando) and Devon Reid; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, July 15, 2013 at Friendship Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service at the church and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity final rites will begin at 11:30 AM.
