Mr. Nathaniel H. Crawford

On Friday morning, October 2, 2015, the Lord called his son Mr. Nathaniel Hensen Crawford, Sr. to his heavenly home.
He was born to the late Loretta Hinson Crawford and Robert Nathaniel Crawford on October 24, 1923. Deacon Crawford was a faithful and dedicated member of Phillips Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he was committed to the Soul winning team, Intercessory Prayer and Sunday School ministries. His life was a testament to God’s goodness, mercy and grace. Mr. Crawford gave honorable service for his country in the US Navy during WWII. He was the oldest and longest residing member of the Easton Community. He was a longtime employee at Robert E. Lee Hotel until its closing in 1971. He then worked as a machine operator for 16 years at Kernersville Finishing, until his retirement.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepmother, Mae Belle Crawford; daughter Angela Denise Crawford; sister, Beulah Mae Pender; brother, Walter Vernal Crawford; great grandson, Gabriel McQueen; and great granddaughter, Alyssa Kay Harrington. He leaves to cherish his memories six daughters, Elaine Johnson Gibson of Hamlet, NC; Navonne (Sherman, Sr.) Moore of Candor, NC, Dr. Valeria (Dr. Barney) Jones of Pfafftown, NC; Talma Crawford of Memphis, TN, Patricia Crawford of Winston-Salem, NC and Karen Wideman; three sons, Clifton Farabee of Thomasville, NC, Robert Crawford of Kernersville, NC and Nathaniel Crawford, Jr. of Winston-Salem; a sister, Mary Alice Caple of Chester, PA; 17 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildfren; 10 great great grandchildren; aunt, Ethel Mae Taylor of Baltimore, MD and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and many loving friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am, Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Phillips Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Salisbury National Cemetery. The family will greet friends thirty minutes prior to the service at the church, at 11 am.
