Ms. Gwendolyn L. Washington
Ms. Gwendolyn L. Washington passed away on June 17, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home following an extended period of illness.
She was born to the late Ophelia Gazell Washington in Bethania, NC on January 18, 1945. She attended the public schools of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County and graduated from Carver High School in 1963.
Ms. Washington was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church where she faithfully served with The Senior Choir, Spiritual Choir and Senior Missionary Ministries of the church until declining health limited her active participation.
She was a former employee of Thomasville Furniture Company and she was the lead custodian for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System at Gibson Elementary School prior to her retirement.
Those family members who survive include her daughter, Ronda A. Hill; her son, Delray R. Washington; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; a special uncle, Richard C. Washington; devoted friends, Elizabeth Speas, Maureen Thomas and Stephanie Sanders-Pratt; extended family members and many friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2015 at Red Bank Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend James R. Clyburn, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2015 in the chapel of Clark S. Brown and Sons Funeral Home.
