Mrs. Mattie F. Smith


Mrs. Mattie Frances Smith was born to the late Hubert McKenley Stafford and Etta Wolfe Stafford in Bethania, North Carolina on May 6, 1926.
She enjoyed the time spent with her family, especially her grands and great grands. She was a homemaker who really loved to cook. A favorite pastime for her was watching her soap operas on television. She was a sweet lady who would bring a smile to the face of everyone she met.
Mrs. Smith recently found new Christian joy when she joined the fellowship at House of Faith Outreach in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
The Lord called Mattie Frances Stafford Smith home to live with Him from the Oaks at Forsyth in Winston-Salem on Thursday, November 26, 2015, following a period of illness. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Ella Mae Strong and a brother, William Stafford.
Those family members who survive and who will cherish loving memories of her include her children, Daniel (Zelma) Stafford, Annie Wagner, Mary Webster and Walter Pollard; twelve grandchildren, including a special granddaughter, Marilyn D. Webster; twenty-three great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; a devoted caregiver for more than thirty years, Mrs. Bertha Johnson; several extended family members, neighbors and friends.
