Ms. Evelyn E. Barber

Miss Evelyn Elzenia Barber of 6033 Santa Maria Drive, Winston-Salem, NC (formerly of 333 Brevard Street, Statesville, NC) gave herself willingly to the Lord, July 5, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

Evelyn was born on February 12, 1929 to the late Henry and Ola Woods Barber. She was educated in the Rowan County School System-Knox County. Evelyn retired from Iredell Memorial Hospital after over 40 years of service. She enjoyed cultivating joyful and meaningful relations with family and friends. She nurtured and enriched the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Evelyn gave graciously and unselfishly to her only child, as well as, to all of her family members.

Evelyn joined Knox Grove Baptist Church at an early age. She was an active participant in many church functions and activities. Having a gifted voice she was a member of the Soul Stirrers Gospel Choir. In later life (as resident at the Oaks At Forsyth) Evelyn was known to begin and end her day singing songs of praise to the Lord. She would also sing during the day giving thanks for her blessings.

Evelyn is survived by a very appreciative and loving family. She taught them the true meaning of Trust, Faith, Peace and Love-which she gave unconditionally and received unconditionally. Cherishing her living love is her daughter Cynthia (Linwood), grandson Brent, great-grandsons Kaleb, Bryson, and Cameron, and her special niece Kashja, and a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Knox Grove Baptist Church, Cleveland, NC. The family greeted friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church and Friday evening from 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment was in the church cemetery.
