Mr. Bernard Maurice Evans departed this life April 10, 2011 after a brief illness. Bernard attended Paisley High School and graduated from Atkins High School in 1961 where he played in the band. Bernard was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and was employed by R.J. Reynolds and retired from Aramark, Inc.
Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Lewis Evans, Sr., a brother, Lewis W. Evans, Jr. and two sisters, Dolly Mae Hairston and infant Barbara Jean Evans.
Bernard leaves to cherish his memories: two loving sons, Reverend Terrance (Christy) Evans and Undrea (Shaunta) Montgomery; a sister, Bernice Cross; a caring sister-in-law, Minnie J. Evans; brother-in-law, B. David Hairston; caring and devoted nieces, Jacqueline Spease, Carolyn Cross and Sharon Rawlinson; devoted friends, Kimberly Wilson and James Harden; a host of grandchildren, other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family will meet at 12:30 PM on Saturday, April 16 for the family visitation at Friendship Baptist Church with funeral services beginning at 1:00 PM, Reverend Ardeal Roseboro, eulogist and Pastor Stacey Frazier, officiating. The family will leave from the home of his niece, Ms. Jacqueline Spease, 1090 Shalimar Drive.
