Mr. Gene Tinsley Austin passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

He was born on April 22, 1942 to Geneva Jackson and James Tinsley, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Mr. Austin was a member of St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church where he sang with the Senior Choir. And he was employed at The Reynolda House Museum of American Art in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

His survivors include Janice Austin, his wife of thirty years; his mother, Geneva Jackson; a brother, Harold (Linda) Jackson; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Francis; a sister-in-law, Lorretta Jackson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. The family will meet with friends thirty minutes prior to the services at 1:30 p.m. at the church. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
