Mr. Bennie Monroe McBride affectingly known as Bobby went home to be with the Lord on Saturday evening July 17, 2010.  He was born to Horace Bennie and Mable Eunice McBride on December 3, 1944 in Winston-Salem, NC. Bennie had a larger than life personality which was evident in his style and charisma.  He loved people and sports.  More important he was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a loyal friend.

He was a proud 2010 graduate of Winston-Salem State University earning a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Political Science, a retired employee of Modern Chevrolet, a member of the Winston Salem Sportsman Club where he also served as the chairman of the Hall of Fame committee for five years, a former Instructor of Adult Education, a volunteer of the Daryl Hunt Project, and a  loyal member of Union Baptist Church. Over the years, he has received many awards in recognition of his achievements namely: the Daryl Hunt Project for Freedom and Justice 2008 volunteer of the year award, and the Certificate of Merit from Winston  Salem State University for outstanding leadership, and a recipient of the Mark of Excellence Award from GM.

Bennie was a standard bearer, the "Go To" guy, the one who showed you how it is supposed to be done.  He set the bench mark for ethical morals, self esteem, respectability, and responsibility for all of us young men in his family.  He not only told them but showed them how to be a real man.  His style, his love of life and people, his faith in God is reflected in the young men lives he touched.  This is part of his legacy.

As he always would say:” the thing done done”.
