Mr. Walter A. Moore

Sergeant First Class Walter Antonio Moore passed away at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina on Monday, January 4, 2016.
He was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Doris Galloway Moore and John Walter Moore, on March 17, 1970. He was educated in the public schools of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County and a graduate of Carver High School. Following high school graduation, he enrolled at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Art Design.
Mr. Moore was a College Bookstore Manager at several colleges and universities and after a period, he worked in the Sales and Marketing field. He later enlisted in the United States Army and worked as a Medic. After four years of honorable service for his country, he was discharged and joined the United States Army Reserve. While a reservist, he rose to the rank of Sergeant First Class, enrolled in courses which would eventually lead to his ultimate goal of becoming a physician’s assistant. He honorably served with United States Army Reserve until his unexpected passing occurred on Monday, January 4, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Johnny and Erma Dawson Moore and his maternal grandparents, Benjamin and Bessie Binghams Galloway. Survivors include Alina-Paula Balota Moore, his devoted wife; his son, Tyson Anthony Moore-Fain; his parents, Doris Galloway Moore and John Walter Moore; mother and father-in-law, Elena and Jean Balota; sister-in-law, Raluca Balota; godmother, Jo Ann Brown; Joya and John Brown, Jr. and their families; two aunts; an uncle; several cousins, extended family members and friends, including hundreds of military comrades.
A Service of Love and Remembrance will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at First Baptist Church (700 Highland Avenue) with Military Honors. The family will greet friends from 10am until 10:45am at the church.
