Mrs. Bessie J. Bright

Mrs. Bessie Mae Joyce Bright was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 6, 2014. She was born on February 26, 1930 to the late Reverend John T. Joyce and Lomia Summers Joyce.  
After graduating from Carver High School, she attended Winston Salem Teachers College w
here she received her bachelor’s degree in education. 
Mrs. Bright taught in Columbia, South Carolina for several years before marrying William Andrew Bright in 1960.  They had two sons, Andre Pierre and Cedric Marc both whom she adored.  Mrs. Bright retired from the High Point school system after teaching for 25 years. 
She was a steadfast member of Wentz Memorial Congregational United Church of Christ.  
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Andrew Bright; her brothers Charles Joyce, Calvin Joyce and Jeff Joyce; and her beloved sister, Louise Glenn.  
She is survived by her sons, Andre Bright and Dr. Cedric (Maria) Bright; granddaughters, Victoria Michelle and Vanessa Alexandra; a grandson, Andrew Weldon; brother-in-law, Harry Orlo (Rebeca) Bright; nieces, Marie (Wayne) Rezab, Barbara (Odell) Tillery and Miriam (Clifford) Bright; nephews, James Joyce and David Bright; many great nieces and nephews and a host of other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Wentz Memorial United Church of Christ. The family will greet friends from 11:00 am until 11:30 am at the church.
