Ms. Alice M. Roseboro

Ms. Alice Mae Roseboro, (fondly called "Big Alice") was a loving mother,grandmother, great- grandmother, sister, aunt and friend has gone home to be with the Heavenly Father after a courageous battle with cancer. Through all of her of her struggles, she never lost faith, and passed away Friday, July 1, 2011. She was born March 25, 1931 in Forsyth County to the late Earl and Ruth Roseboro.
She is survived by a devoted son, Clevell (Deborah), eight grandchildren, David Payne (Antoinette) , Clevell, II (Amber), Ivy Gillis, John Roseboro (Maricia), Kellie Roseboro, Aisha Jiggetts (Vernon), Maurice and Marcus Wright. Four sisters, Mildred Griffin, Azalee Vinson (James), Bertha Parks and Robbie Allenl; Six brothers: John (Harold) Roseboro, Langhorne, Pa., Eugene Roseboro (Viola), Tobaccoville, NC, Rev. Ardeal Roseboro (Diane), Archie Roseboro, Curtis Roseboro, and Samuel Roseboro (Elaine). Ten great-grandchildren. A very special niece, Charlene Roseboro and a host of nieces and nephews.
Alice graduated from Atkins Senior High School, Class of 1948 and McLean Stenographer School. She retired from Forsyth Hospital (Social Work Dept.) after twenty-five years of service and the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools (North Hills Elementary School).A life-long member of the Friendship Baptist Church, where she faithfully participated in BTD, Sunday School, Missionary, Vacation Bible School, Women Council, Wednesday Night Bible Study and was a former member of the Senior Choir and the Effort Club. She was an active member of James H. Young #592, Order of Eastern Star, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Amicae, National Educators Association, North Carolina Retired Educators Personnel Association, Winston-Salem State University National Alumni Association, National Education Support Personnel Association and former Den Leader of Boy Scout Troop #818.
The Family will receive friends at a Reflection Service, Tuesday, July 5, 2011, 7:00-8:30 PM at Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. The remains will be placed in the church one and a half hour prior to the Homegoing Service which will be held, Wednesday, July 6, 2011, 12:30 PM at Friendship Baptist Church, with Rev. Stacey L. Frazier, officiating.
