Mr. Monroe Clinton Wharton

Mr. Monroe Clinton Wharton, was born on March 16, 1918 in Winston-Salem, N.C. to the late Monroe C and Susie Cuthrell Wharton. He attended public schools in Forsyth County and later served in the Navy. He retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company after many years of service. Monroe was also a life member of the West Yadkin Masonic Lodge #806. Mr. Wharton was a faithful member of Glenn's Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, where he served on the Steward & Trustee Board, and was a devoted Class Leader until a decline in his health.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Shore Wharton; son Earl (Ida) Wharton; three grandchildren, Earl (Jennie) Wharton, Janet Parsons and Lisa Elliott; three great-grandchildren, Darren (Mary Jo) Wharton, Brian Wharton and Justin Parsons and one great-great grandson, Jaden Wharton. He also leaves to cherish his loving memories two brothers, Mr. William (Watina) Wharton of Mocksville, N.C., and Mr. Richard Wharton of Chesapeake VA., and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
