Ms. Aretta J. Adams

Aretta J. Adams, affectionately known as “Retta” was called to her heavenly home on Sunday November 15 following an extended illness. Aretta was born March 25, 1944 to the late Robert and Mary Simington Adams. Also preceding her in death was a sister, Jacqueline A. Thomas.

She was a faithful member of Reynolds Temple CME Church where she participated in numerous activities. She was a graduate of Anderson High School Class of 1962 and attended Winston-Salem State Teachers College. Aretta worked for Piedmont Airlines, now US Airways, retiring with 32 years of service.

To cherish her memory is her brother, Donald L. Adams, Sr; sisters Sherlane A. Hill, and Doris L. Adams of Winston-Salem, and Gloria A. Ivey of Atlanta; nieces Monique and Camille Ivey of Atlanta, Janet Thomas, and Jennifer Sharnele Hill; nephews James Thomas, III, Donald Adams, Jr, William R. (Mary) Hill, of this city and Geoffrey Hill, New York; six great nephews and nieces; uncles: Clarence (Geneva) Simington, Gartha L. (Lillie) Simington of Winston-Salem and J. Carnell (Mary Lee) Simington of Minnesota; aunts: Eloise Simington, Ernestine Simington of the city, and Delray McDonald of New York; special cousins: Ruth Oree and Vicki Taborn; special friends: Sharal Reed, Blondie Glenn, Linnie Clark, Jerelyn Travick and Marvelle Willoughby; special family friend, Maurice Jackson and a host of other relatives and friends.
