Ms. Candace M. Griffin
Candace Michele Griffin was born in Queens, New York on April 26, 1971. She was the only child born to Eliana Phillips and the late Lavelle Griffin.
Candace, along with her mother, moved to Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She found the nurture of a loving family in the home which she shared with her mother and stepfather, Rory Phillips.
She was a product of the local public school system and she later earned her certification as a Nurse Assistant from Forsyth Technical Community College. Her professional training prepared Candace for a life of work and service as she was gainfully employed by Forsyth Medical Center and several of the local nursing homes where she provided health services “where service was needed.”
Candace was a natural when it came to the nurture and care of others. She was a great listener, compassionate advisor and a source of strength to those in her care and to her family and friends alike. Her love and care for her children was evident in the home where she and her life partner, Marvin Wardlow, chose to rear their two daughters.
Following a period of illness, Candace passed away at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on May 12, 2013.
Those family members who will miss and forever cherish the memory of Candace Michele Griffin include her mother and stepfather, Eliana and Rory Phillips; life partner, Marvin Wardlow; two daughters, Jasmine Moore and Alicia Wardlow; grandson, Erik Turner; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and close friends.
