Mr. Willie Liggett

Mr. Willie Liggett, 79, passed away at Wake Forest Baptist Health on Saturday, January 2, 2016 following a period of illness.
He was born to the late Otis Garrett and Willie Mae Liggett in Winston-Salem, NC on February 18, 1936.
Mr. Liggett attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Atkins High School. He was discharged from the United States Army after giving honorable service for his country.
He was employed by the Winston-Salem Housing Authority for several years prior to his 1998 retirement from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System as a dedicated custodian.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Josie Liggett. Survivors include Gwendolyn Timbers, a devoted friend of many years; his children, including a loving caregiver, Tonya, George (Cheryl), Mary, Willie Mae, Michelle and “Man;” grandchildren, Atesha K. (Din) Grier, Daijuan King, Marquese Timbers, Jaina D. Reynolds, Carlos R. Carter and Shyann M. Timbers; great grandchildren, Ephaim A. Grier, Elijah K. Grier and Esaias N. Grier; a faithful cousin and caregiver, Thelma Thompson; several cousins, extended family members and many friends.
A funeral service will be held at Clark S. Brown and Sons Funeral Home Chapel at 2:30 pm, Saturday, January 9, 2016. Interment will be at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC. The family will greet friends in the chapel thirty minutes prior to the service, at 2pm.
