Mr. Clarence McMillian

Mr. Clarence McMillian, 75, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center after a period of illness. 


He was born in Forsyth County to the late Paul C. and Inez Carr McMillian on June 16, 1939.

Mr. McMillian was a 1957 graduate of Atkins High School. He was a founding member of The Mighty Wonders Gospel Singers during his high school days. He was the last survivor of the original Mighty Wonders.

He worked for RJ Reynolds Tobacco and retired after 34 years of service to the company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Alice N. McMillian, Richard McMillian and Johnny McMillian and his son, Dwight E. Evans.

Survivors include his wife, Velma S. McMillian; children, Helen (Robert) Harris, Camilla McMillian (Ben), Clarence McMillian, Jr., Michelle M. Foster, Keith Speas, Sonja McMillian and Kewaun Lineberger; sisters, Pauline Martin and Mary (Larry) Covington; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; 22 grandchildren, including Keashia Lineberger of the home; 30 great grandchildren; other extended family members and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church with Rev. Sam Cornelius, eulogist. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Bethlehem AME Zion Church cemetery in Pfafftown, NC. (Clark S. Brown & Sons)
