Mrs. Mary Syfonsbia Payne

The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want… On Wednesday, July 13, 2011, Syfonsbia Dobson Payne “Fonza” ended her earthly journey. She was born in Yadkin County on December 28, 1930 to the late Janie and Ervin Dobson. She was a faithful member of St. John CME Church where she served with the Missionary Society. Mrs. Payne was retired from AT&T (Lucent Technologies).
 
She enjoyed many things, including traveling, flowers, church, cooking and watching cooking shows. Her passion was spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her joy.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Rev. Gilbert Dobson, two sisters, Vaughnita Reynolds and Edna Randleman. She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Sandy A. Payne and six children: Sandy R. Payne (Nancy), Columbus, IN, Vaughnita Soloman, Mary L. Drummond, Patrice E. Adams (Christopher), Ervin L. Payne (Rita), Winnepeg, Canada, Timothy Payne (Patricia); eighteen grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Louise Payne, Charleston, SC; a step-daughter, Johnetta McGriff; dedicated niece and nephew, Carol Reynolds and Keith Randleman; a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
 
Special thanks to Mrs. Geraldine Moss, the staff of Springwood Care Center, and Forsyth Medical Center, Palliative Care.
 
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at St. John CME Church, 650 NW Crawford Place with Rev. Edward L. Thomas, officiating. Family visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, NC.
