Ms. Doris L. Jackson

On March 7, 2013, God sent his angels to Atlantic City, NJ for Doris Lillian Jackson. She was born to the late Robert D. Jackson and Minnie Bynum Jackson. She attended public schools in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and graduated from Atkins High School in 1953 and Winston-Salem Teachers College in 1957. Doris taught in the Atlantic City Public Schools for more than 35 years. She was a faithful member of Union Baptist Temple and a member of the Host/Hostess Club. She was a lifetime member of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. Iota Chapter and was the National Grand Marshal, Business & Professional Women's Organization, Gold Star member of First Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC Doris was inducted into the Atkins High School Hall of Fame for Basketball in 2008 and was Miss Alumni of WSSU in 1970. She is survived by her son, Reginald O. (Michelle) Jackson; sisters: Naomi J. Jeffries, Lillie Jackson Van Landingham, Minnie Jackson Evans, and Shirley Jackson-Scott; granddaughter, Tiffany Webb; great- granddaughter, Teiona; nieces, LaTeesha (Doug), Daphne, Angela, Michelle, and Lisa (Herbert) Kelly; nephews, Curtis Evans and Cedric (Gwendolyn) Jeffries; the Mickle & Price Families, Goddaughters, Kellene Pecote and Shantel Smalls; adopted son, Aljah King; special nephew, D.J; special nieces, Laila and Kamilyah; special friends, Helen Benbow and Family, The David Fowlkes Family, The Marven Hill, Mr. & Mrs. Frank Ervin, Clementine Brown, Alice Richardson, Aaron Johnson; a host of other family and friends; countless students; and her Bungalow Park neighbors. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at First Baptist Church. The family will greet friends thirty minutes prior to the service. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
