Sharon Ann Payne was born on May 3, 1950 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late James and Winnie Fred Hunter Payne.

She attended the public schools of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County and graduated from Atkins High School in 1968.

Ms. Wells was a lifelong member of Saint Paul Apostolic Church.

She was the owner and operator of “Ann’s Shop” on Trade Street in downtown Winston-Salem.

Ms. Sharon Ann Payne Wells passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home following a period of illness.

Those family members who will forever cherish her memory include her devoted son, Nathaniel Douglas Wells, Jr., of the home; a sister, Maxine (Wiley) Charles of Washington, DC; a brother, James (Bonnie) Payne, Jr. of Chester, VA and many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 11, 2013 in the chapel of Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. The family will greet friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
