Mrs. Barbara L. Herring

Barbara Delories Ledbetter Herring, affectionately known as “Barb” entered eternal rest on Friday, April 24 at 10:55 p.m.
Barbara was born in Winston- Salem, N.C. on April 4, 1940, the oldest child of Naomi Ledbetter. She graduated from Allen High School in Asheville, NC in 1957 and Lutheran College in Greensboro, N.C. in 1961.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she was an active participant on the hospitality committee and the choir. She was a member of the Greensboro Council of Catholic Women and a diligent member of Zeta Amicae. She enjoyed attending Wednesday night bible study at Calvary Christian Church.
Barbara loved children and worked for Guilford County Schools as a teacher’s assistant and upon retirement she continued to volunteer.
She leaves to treasure her memory, her loving husband of 53 years, Richard Lewis Herring, a beautiful daughter, Leslie Herring Ross, son-in-law Dennis L. Ross, and a devoted grandchild, Sherry Ross all of Greensboro, N.C.
Also cherishing her memory is her mother, Naomi Ledbetter of Winston- Salem, NC; ten siblings, Antoinette ( Bobby) Hunt of Rural Hall, NC; Jerry ( Lynette) Ledbetter of Lorain, Ohio; Ray Ledbetter, Jacqueline Spencer, Oscar ( Sallie) Ledbetter, all of Winston- Salem, NC; Miriam (David) Wagner of High Point, NC; Tyrone (Derreka) Ledbetter of Huntersville, NC; Linda (Nathaniel) Fox of Bogart, GA; Bernadette ( Vaughn) Booker and Donna Andrews, both of Winston- Salem, NC; two aunts, Mamie Turner of Greensboro, NC; a brother-in-law, Jefferson (Essie) Herring of Chattanooga, TN; a sister-in-law Dorothy Herring; and two special adopted great grandsons, Jahon “Dooley” Boyd and Landon Ingram, all of Greensboro, NC as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service for Mrs. Herring will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 812 Duke Street. The family will greet friends from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
