Mr. Charles L. Rorie
There are many things in life we cannot understand, but we must trust God’s judgment; and be guided by His hand and all who have God’s blessing can rest safely in His care; for He promises safe passage, on the wings of faith and prayer.
Mr. Charles L. Rorie, 74, departed this earthly life on Saturday, January 9, 2010 quietly at his residence, 1526 Fitch Street. Charles was the son of the late Dock and Susie Rorie. He was a life long resident of Winston-Salem and attended Atkins High School. Charles was a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. He worked for many years at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and was a retiree from the City of Winston-Salem.
Charles was preceded in death by two brothers, Dock Avery and Jack Rorie; one sister, Dorothy S. Harvey. Left to cherish his memories are: his wife, Beatrice C. Rorie; one brother, Gilbert Rorie; one sister, Ollie Parker; one brother-in-law, Eugene H. Caldwell, all of Winston-Salem and sister-in-law, Minnie L. Caldwell of Rochester, NY; two dedicated nieces and caretakers, Yvonne Rorie and Jackie Baldwin; a host of other nieces and nephews; special friend, Mable Peterson; special friend and neighbor, Sadie Beal; and Gentiva Home Health provider, Vanessa Wall.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 15, 2010 at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Leach, Sr., pastor, officiating. The family will visit with friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. The family will assemble and leave from 1501 Longview Drive. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
