Ms. Geraldine W. Gist

Ms. Geraldine Walker Gist, 64, was born March 8, 1946 in Winston-Salem, NC to Ethel and the late Raymond Hampton. She departed this life on December 27, 2010. Geraldine was educated in the local schools and was a graduate of Winston-Salem State University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She was employed for many years by Thomasville Furniture Company. Ms. Gist was a member of St. John Baptist Church where she served as church secretary, taught Adult Sunday school and served on the Usher Board. Many loving memories will be shared by her dearly beloved mother, Ethel Hampton of the home; two sisters: Queen Esther Fant of Winston-Salem and Evelyn Walker of Charlotte, NC; children: Roger D. Gist, Jr. of Atlanta, Ga; Regina Danette (George) Freyberger of Junction City, Ks; Ronnie Derringer (Laura) Gist of San Antonio, Texas; Ramon Deon (Sonia) Gist of Winston-Salem, NC; Rochelle Diane Gist of Atlanta, Ga and Major Ryan (Nani) Gist of Miaswa, Japan; eleven grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Ms. Gist will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 31, 2010 at St. John Baptist Church with Pastor Leonard Lewis, officiating. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
