Mrs. Clara W. Clavon

Clara B. Windham Clavon “Mommio” quietly slipped away to her heavenly home on Friday October 21, 2011, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

She was born to the late Benjamin Windham, Sr. and Mattie Wells Windham on May 19, 1916 in Lynchburg, South Carolina.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late Nathaniel Clavon and to this union, four daughters were born.
Mommio was a stay at home mom until her daughters were of school age and later became an employee of Western Electric (AT&T) for many years.
She was an active member of Goler Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church for more than sixty years. Mrs. Clara Clavon was the most recent Mother of the Church. Her faithful tenure included services on the Gospel Choir, Missionary Society, the Deaconess, Bible Study and Sunday Church School.
This strong warrior leaves to carry on her legacy Daisy Clavon Roane (Cleveland, Ohio), Shirley Clavon Kindle (Pfafftown, North Carolina), Mary Clavon Nelson (James) and Jeraline Clavon Gunnings (Winston-Salem, North Carolina), one son-in-law and one sister-law. Mommio cherished her eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchildren.
Family visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of life at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2011 at Goler Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church . 630 N. Patterson Ave. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
